WWD2021 “How do you clean your hands and keep your family safe when you don’t have a reliable water supply, a decent toilet or even soap?”
WWD2021: This year’s conversation about water’s valuation takes place in five perspectives: valuing water sources (in-situ water resources and ecosystems); valuing water infrastructure, both natural and built infrastructure, for water storage, use, reuse or supply augmentation; valuing water services (drinking water, sanitation and related human health aspects); valuing water as an input to production and socioeconomic activities (e.g. food and agriculture, energy and industry, business and employment, transport); and socio-cultural values of water (e.g., recreation, spiritual).
Welcoming Remark: 2021 World Water Day
We have aimed to contribute to the global conversation, making use of World Water Day (March 22) within the framework of the 2021 theme, “Valuing Water” towards a road map to bring ‘systemic change in the way water is valued in policy, practice, finance, management, and behavior and to inspire.”
WATER & COVID-19
Water is an inorganic, tasteless, transparent, odorless chemical substance, and is the main constituent of living organisms. The human body contains 55% to 70% water depending on, for instance, body size and age. To function properly, the body requires between 2500-2600 ml of water per day to maintain the water balance. Most of it is ingested through food and beverage, rather than through drinking pure water.
