[LMGlobal.Org] On June 20, 2026, The Light Millennium, Charitable Global Human Advancement Organization | LMGlobal.Org, an NGO associated with the United Nations Department of Global Communications, convened its Annual Meeting and the new term 2026-2028 Board of Elections, marking its quarter-century milestone (established 2001, New York) as a purely volunteer-based organization. This annual gathering served a vital dual purpose: it provided an opportunity to look back on a two-year cycle of unprecedented international visibility and systemic impact—anchored by a new UN Environment Programme (UNEP) accreditation granting Observer Status to the United Nations Environment Assembly, alongside the global success of the 2025 J.U.C. Awards dedicated to the UN Water Action Decade—while consciously restructuring its leadership for the 2026–2028 term. By blending the Organization’s foundational roots with an enduring dedication towards fostering global connectivity, peace and citizenship, the meeting set a powerful trajectory for its future scale and international track record.

The heart of the transition into this next chapter was the formal reading, election, and validation of the incoming Board of Directors and the expansion of the Advisory Board. This new term eloquently illustrates a vibrant, multicultural, and multigenerational leadership team—bringing together educators, technological innovators, and youth representatives who ensure the Organization’s vision, purposes, and ongoing multi-year projects remain sharp, accessible, and active both online and in connection with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.  At the same time, recognizing the global reach of the vision, both continuing and incoming board members celebrated enthusiastic interest from Kenya and Burundi during the interactive session, establishing a transparent pathway for international joint action. Additionally, while formal board applications from Nigeria could not be accommodated due to US-based residency requirements, the Organization welcomed this interest as a direct invitation for mutual project-based collaboration.

The leadership framework was further enhanced by welcoming Ambassador Ramu Damodaran to the Advisory Board, while simultaneously establishing a strategic, liability-free international partnership framework to channel enthusiastic grassroots interest from global applicants into localized project collaboration. Concurrently, the meeting successfully generated high momentum for the cornerstone #CompulsoryPeaceICTsEdu Campaign, uniting global volunteers around a shared, passionate vision targeted for integration into the Post-2030 Agenda and the UN’s 100th Anniversary (#UN100) in 2045.

Opening & Welcoming Remarks: Reflecting on a Quarter-Century and a Two-Year Cycle of High Impact

The Annual Meeting and Board Elections commenced with a powerful, heartfelt address by Founder-President Bircan Ünver, celebrating LMGlobal.Org’s profound milestone of reaching a quarter-century as a purely volunteer-based organization. For twenty-five years, the Organization’s journey has been fueled by a firm commitment and dedication towards the need for fostering global connectivity and toward global citizenship, mutual understanding, and human advancement as its core motto. On behalf of the Organization, Ms. Ünver passionately emphasized that the world must stop investing in increasingly powerful and destructive weaponry and start channeling those resources into human advancement without any delay.

Reflecting on the 2024–2026 cycle, Ms. Ünver anchored the opening in a two-year journey of unprecedented international visibility and systemic impact, categorized across two major foundational pillars:

Core Global Campaigns & Ongoing Annual Programs

• The #CompulsoryPeaceICTsEdu Campaign (Seeded & Delivered): Moving into its third year, this cornerstone campaign was initially announced and promoted from July to September 2024 in support of the Summit of the Future #UNGA79, and officially inaugurated on October 5, 2024. Over the course of the 2024–2026 term, the Organization successfully delivered eight impactful international virtual sessions with the Coalition for the multi-year campaign, building a visionary coalition designed to weave peace education and digital infrastructure into core global public education systems. During the remarks, an open invitation was extended for new global collaborations to join this active coalition.

* The Ultimate Vision: The cornerstone initiative of the Organization ultimately supports the Pact for the Future and aims to gain Member States’ support for it to be presented to the UN General Assembly for its inclusion in the UN’s Post-2030 Agenda and the 100th Anniversary #UN100 in 2045.

* The Goal: To establish peace and ICTs education as the structural skeleton of global public education systems and learning, with robust ICT and AI infrastructure deeply embedded from kindergarten onward.

• Ongoing Annual Water Programs: Championing water issues remains an annual, ongoing public program for LMGlobal.Org. Following the “Water for Peace” session in March 2024, the 2025 cycle successfully channeled water advocacy directly through the international J.U.C. Awards (for high schools) dedicated to the UN Water Action Decade. This culminated in the delivery of the 6th Annual World Water Day Session in March 2026, which tackled The Triple Nexus of Security—the critical intersection of Global Water Security, Cybersecurity, and Gender Equality—proving that environmental rights are inseparable from digital and human rights.

• UNEP Observer Status: Officially accredited with Observer Status to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Assembly in June 2026, granting the Organization a direct seat at the table.
• Frontline Environmental Concerns: Spearheading an official side event focused on ocean recovery and plastic recycling at the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, France in June 2025, bridging high-level policy with direct field outcomes.

Youth Empowerment: The International 2025 J.U.C. Awards

The remarks highlighted the monumental success of the Bi-annual International J.U.C. Awards as a long-term investment in the architects of tomorrow’s policy. The latest cycle achieved a truly global reach across five different countries, distributing 16 monetary awards in 2025 alone to celebrate creative excellence, peace education, advocacy for the Water Action Decade, and the profound role of bilingualism. The next cycle, the 2027 J.U.C. Awards, which are dedicated to Bilingualism in four categories  in support of the International Day of Mother Tongue, to be delivered in February 2027.

Transition to the New Term: Restructuring the Governing Body

Deepest gratitude was expressed to the outgoing and continuing 2024–2026 Board of Directors and Advisory Board Members for sustaining the Organization’s Gold Transparency status through Candid.Org during the last two years.

Ms. Ünver addressed an application for board membership from Nigeria, noting that while regulatory By-Laws limit formal board positions to the Organization’s current legal domestic framework, the Organization is honored by this interest and enthusiastically looks forward to collaborating on a project-by-project basis in Nigeria.

Ms. Ünver, then formally presented the incoming slate for the New Term Board of Directors as voting members, collectively reflecting global diversity, international dual-residencies, three distinct cultural backgrounds, and vibrant generational leadership:

2026 – 2028 BOARD OF DIRECTORS

• [New] Dr. Neelam Bhardwaj: Founder and President of HelplifeGlobal NY Inc. and Helplife India, focusing on global public health and women’s advocacy; and retired as the Senior Advisor for Maternal and Reproductive Health and Rights at UNFPA. Maintaining dual residency in India and New York, bringing vital expertise for an upcoming extensive global volunteerism project. Dr. Neelam took the floor and shared her vision and goals for the Global Volunteerism project that led to her joining the Organization’s Board.
  
• [New] Mr. Salih Mansur:  Technology Mentor and ePortfolio Scholar, at the LaGuardia Center for Teaching and Learning, City University of New York (CUNY). Representing a younger generation of leadership, as an AI Educator of Turkish background who will ensure the organization’s technological initiatives remain sharp and accessible while representing the organization at the UN. Mr. Mansur presented an overview of his near two-decades of active engagement with LMGlobal.Org.
  
• [Continuing] Ms. Vrushali Gaikwad: Software Engineer – LIVE Streaming Services at Warner Bros. Representing vibrant youth leadership, originally from India, software engineer, continuing her dedicated service and representation of the organization at the United Nations. Ms. Gaikwad presented her two-year experience along with her active participation in the UN High-Level Events.
  
• [Continuing] Prof. Victor B. Lawrence: Professor at Stevens Institute of Technology and senior research scientist. Originally from Ghana, innovator and global expert on ICTs and AI, whose renewed commitment brings invaluable, enduring institutional wisdom to the multicultural team. Prof. Lawrence reaffirmed his ongoing commitment to the organization, particularly regarding AI-related issues.
  
• [Continuing] Ms. Bircan Ünver, M.A.: Author, Multi-media Producer; Founder-President of the LMGlobal.Org. Originally from Türkiye.

ADVISORY BOARD

In connection with the Advisory Board, the Organization warmly welcomed its newest members and expressed deepest thanks to its continuing advisors. To maintain full transparency, it was noted during the session that while the full Advisory Board roster will be officially announced in the upcoming Newsletter #42, the status of the current and incoming advisors stands as follows:

• [New] Ambassador Ramu Damodaran (The First Chief, UN Academic Impact [2010-2021] and Permanent Observer to the UN for the University for Peace) to the Advisory Board for this new term.
  
• [Continuing] Prof. Gunay Smith (Professor of Biological and Chemical Sciences at Southside Virginia Community College (retired in 2019), was present and took the floor to share her firsthand engagement with the Organization, which began while the Covid-19 pandemic impacts were still heavily in place in 2022. Her experience presented a warm insight into her full commitment and service on the Evaluation Committee of the 2025 J.U.C. Awards, where she served as the co-chair of the Innovation Category. Prof. Smith eloquently compared her professional life as an educator and professor in biology with her involvement in the non-profit world through the Organization.
  
• [Continuing] Ambassador Rodrigo A. Carazo, Member, UN Human Rights Committee in Geneva; Former Ambassador of Costa Rica to the United Nations (2018-2022), Costa Rica.
  
• [Continuing] Prof. Olcay Ünver,  Professor of Practice, Environmental and Resource Management, The Polytechnic School; Senior Global Futures Scientist, Global Futures Scientists and Scholars Affiliate, Melikian Center; Arizona State University, USA.
  
• [Continuing] Ms. Gül Türkmenoğlu — Regional Vice President of Operations · Sonesta Hotels, Senior Hotel Executive, New York, USA. 

International Footprint, Demographics & Public Outreach

The Call for the New Term Board of Elections was posted on www.lmglobal.org, released through Newsletter #40, and shared through social media as an open invitation to the public. Highlighting the global attention the session commanded, international registrations were received from the following diverse country demographics: Bangladesh, Burundi, Egypt, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Türkiye, and the United States.

During the interactive sessions, guests based in Kenya and Burundi took the floor to indicate their formal interest in collaborating on organizational projects. 

Conclusion & Ongoing Open Call for the New Term

In conclusion, the meeting successfully generated immense hope, launching a magnificent new term together fueled by an active, open invitation for global collaboration.

In alignment with our public outreach via Newsletter #40 along with a reminder #41, LMGlobal.Org officially maintains an open window for new talent, energy, and commitment to expand our multi-year projects. We invite potential candidates, institutions, and volunteers to explore engagement across all organizational levels:

Project-Based Coalitions, Volunteer Partnerships & Open Call: We invite grassroots organizations, student coordinators, activists, and experts worldwide to build mutual, two-way paths of collaboration that join forces to empower and engage with both our global initiatives and local communities. We are actively seeking visionary leaders to join our Coalition, Tech & AI experts for public discussions, and finance experts, grant writers, and pro-bono attorneys to help carry the Organization into its next 25 years. This open invitation spans all disciplines—welcoming creative artists, global media, water, ocean, and peace advocates, and student coordinators (particularly for the 2027 J.U.C. Mialano Foundation for Peace and Development (FOMIPD), Kenya: Dr. David Tangania Mialano (Professor of Law in Kenya), who attended the meeting, officially confirmed collaboration for the #CompulsoryPeaceICTsEdu Campaign alongside the 2027 J.U.C. Awards, providing his foundation’s official documentation, logo, biography, and photograph. An Informative Meeting for the 2027 J.U.C. Awards has been proposed virtually by the FOMIPD for July 26, 2026.
   
2. International Student Coordination, Burundi: Miss Horimberre Ange Louella confirmed her role to act as the International Student Coordinator for the 2027 J.U.C. Awards in Burundi. She also indicated an active interest in participating in the Organization’s upcoming virtual sessions, confirming her participation as a Youth Speaker for the November 7th AI and ICT discussion panel, which aligns with her current university studies in System Management in Burundi. Miss Horimberre is notably a recipient of the 2025 J.U.C. Encouragement Award in the Media Category for her video titled “Water Action Decade.”
