Distinguished Professors, respected educators, and fellow young representatives,
[LMGlobal.Org] My name is Chen Feiyang, and I am an undergraduate majoring in English Education at Huzhou University in China. As a future teacher, and as a young person growing up in a rapidly digitalizing world, I speak today from both the classroom and the screen.
Through my university studies in education, I am taught not only how to teach grammar or vocabulary, but how to shape minds, values, and ways of seeing the world. Yet I have also realized a gap: while technology is entering classrooms faster than ever, peace education and digital ethics often lag behind. Many students learn how to use digital tools, but not how to live responsibly with them.
This is why the proposal to integrate Compulsory Peace Education with ICTs from early childhood through lifelong learning deeply resonates with me. Peace today is no longer only about the absence of war. It is about empathy in online spaces, critical thinking in the age of AI, and the ability to resist hatred, misinformation, and digital exclusion.
As a future English teacher, I see language classrooms as natural spaces for peace education.
Through stories, dialogue, and intercultural communication—supported by digital technologies—we can help students understand others before judging them, and connect globally without losing humanity.
Youth are not only learners; we are future educators, innovators, and decision-makers. Investing in peace and digital literacy is an investment in our shared future.
On behalf of young teachers in training, I strongly support this initiative and call on Member States to place Peace and ICT Education at the heart of post-2030 educational policy.
Education plants the seeds. Peace is the future we grow.
