[LMGlobal.Org – New York, January 28, 2026] In observance of the International Day of Education, The Light Millennium, Charitable Global Human Advancement Organization, proudly presented Compulsory Peace and ICTs Education from Kindergarten to K-12, and Beyond Campaign#7, in collaboration with the members of the COALITION, as a virtual session that aligned with UNESCO’s 2026 theme: “The Power of Youth in Co-Creating Education.”

The #CompulsoryPeaceICTsEdu is a multi-year global campaign dedicated to building awareness and seeking the support of UN Member States to formalize a new educational paradigm. Our objective is to secure the sponsorship required to present this vision to the UN General Assembly before 2030, aiming for global implementation—at least on a pilot level—by #UN100 (2045).

In her Welcoming Remarks, Bircan Ünver, introduced the Compulsory Peace and ICTs Education Campaign#7, and its concept and vision. Koç High School (İstanbul) student and young pianist and composer, Ali Tuna Özer, composed a specific piano piece for this particular session, titled, “Unburdened“, which was performed by him that presented through a pre-recorded video.

OPENING SEGMENT: DIPLOMATIC & ETHICAL ANCHORS
Establishing that education is the primary infrastructure for a culture of peace.

[Former] Ambassador Rodrigo A. Carazo: Transitioning from War to Universal Peace Mastery
Ambassador Carazo, a member of the UN Human Rights Committee, anchored the event in a profound vision where global investments in military defense are redirected toward the “defense of the mind.” He argued that peace must be treated not as a passive state, but as a mastered discipline requiring the same pedagogical rigor as literacy or mathematics. He reminded the assembly that the current global climate demands a fundamental shift in how we allocate resources, prioritizing the intellectual and ethical development of citizens over the machinery of conflict. By framing peace education as a compulsory pillar of national security, he asserted that our survival in the digital age depends on this cognitive shift. He challenged the international community to recognize that a peaceful world is a taught world, stating: “We must move from ‘preparing for war’ to ‘preparing for peace,’ because education is the infrastructure for a culture where technology serves human dignity.”

Ramu Damodaran, Permanent Observer of University for Peace to the UN:
The Interconnectivity of Global Minds Drawing upon his distinguished tenure as the first Chief of United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), Ambassador Damodaran narrated the evolution of ICT as a vital vessel for the UN’s founding ideals. He explored the historical context of global communication, asserting that technology’s ultimate purpose is to dissolve the barriers of distance and misunderstanding that fuel prejudice and isolation. He urged the global community to recognize that digital tools are merely the hardware; the “software” of the future must be a shared commitment to human advancement and mutual respect. He challenged the youth to use their digital fluency not just for consumption, but as a tool to build a more inclusive global dialogue that leaves no one behind. His remarks emphasized that the digital revolution is a tool for peace only if guided by wisdom, asserting: “The power of education lies in its ability to connect us; ICT is the bridge, but peace is the destination we must all reach together.”

Paul Mikov, [Former] CEO, Bons-Ai.Org: Constructing the Moral Bridge for International Development Professor Mikov grounded the session in the complex ethical landscape of international development and humanitarian aid. He spoke of technology as a potent force-multiplier that, without a foundational moral compass, can inadvertently exacerbate inequality, social division, or digital surveillance. He argued that for ICT education to be truly transformative, it must be paired with a “moral bridge” of empathy, justice, and social responsibility. This bridge ensures that as we advance technically, we do not regress ethically, maintaining our focus on the most vulnerable populations. His contribution emphasized that the success of the Post-2030 roadmap and the Pact for the Future depends on our ability to integrate these human values into the heart of the digital curriculum, ensuring technology remains a servant of the public good, stating: “Engineering for peace requires a moral bridge that ensures technology serves as a tool for equity rather than a weapon of exclusion.”

PANELISTS: ENGINEERING HUMAN ADVANCEMENT
Technical and pedagogical blueprints for integrating peace into STEM and ICT frameworks:
Building upon these foundational ethical anchors and the broad vision for global governance, the session transitioned into a technical exploration of how these ideals can be practically integrated into global school systems. The following experts provided the pedagogical and engineering blueprints required to transform the vision of universal peace and Human Advancement into a structured, curriculum-based reality.

Dr. Ning Qiang: Empowering Youth Through an Integrated Learning Ecosystem
Dr. Ning Qiang presented a framework merging neuroscience and educational technology. Using his students’ “Energy Revolution” video project as a case study, he demonstrated how youth act as “responsible systems creators” when given the right digital toolkits. He asserted that “we are calling for an integrated learning ecosystem, as it’s our mission to nurture youth who can understand themselves, leverage digital tools, and perceive the interconnected web of life.”

Prof. Emre Tokgöz: Mathematics as a Pillar of Cognitive Peace Dr. Tokgöz explored how analytical STEM training, specifically mathematics, provides the logical framework necessary for conflict resolution. He posited that a disciplined, analytical mind is less susceptible to emotional manipulation and better equipped to navigate complex global crises with clarity. By grounding technology in mathematical truth, he demonstrated how students can develop ethical resilience, stating: “Analytical STEM skills are the tools students need to navigate global conflicts with logic and ethical clarity.”

Dr. N. Ethiraj: Representing the Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, Dr. Ethiraj provided a technical blueprint for pivoting the global engineering mindset. He argued that traditional military-industrial focuses must be redirected toward humanitarian innovation and social justice. By integrating peace ethics into technical training, he asserted that engineers become the primary architects of global stability. He urged a shift toward “Peace Engineering,” stating: “Engineering for peace is about transforming technology from a weapon of defense into a tool for social justice; we must design systems that prioritize human welfare over conflict.”

• Ms. Jelena Komitas: Defining Human Agency in STEM Education Ms. Komitas highlighted the shift from simple digital access to true human agency in the classroom. She received strong resonance for her assertion that STEM is not merely a technical career path, but a platform for exercising global citizenship and social responsibility. She urged educators to move beyond teaching “how” to use tools and focus on the “why” of their impact, asserting: “True quality in education is found when we move beyond simple access and give students the agency to use technology for the public good.”

• Dr. R. Zahira: Dr. Zahira focused on the psychological and social protection of students in an increasingly volatile digital landscape. She proposed the concept of a “peace vaccine”—a robust curriculum of media literacy and ethical reasoning that inoculates the younger generation against the “contagion” of online violence and misinformation. She emphasized that the school environment is the primary defense against global instability, asserting: “World peace begins in the classroom, and we must educate the young generation with the powerful vaccine of peace to avoid the contagion of digital violence.”

• Dr. Kit August: Fixing the Code for Universal Accessibility Representing the “Math Accessibility Project,” Dr. August focused on the intersection of biomedical engineering and inclusive education. She argued that true peace is impossible as long as the digital divide excludes neurodiverse or disabled learners. By re-engineering educational software to be universally accessible, we perform a fundamental act of justice, noting: “When we fix the code to include every learner, we are making a statement: every mind deserves access to the future.”

• Salih Mansur: Psychological Scaffolding and Ethical Piloting As an independent researcher, Mansur utilized the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) to explain how ICT should act as a “scaffolding” for cognitive growth. He warned that passive AI consumption can threaten psychological development by eroding critical thinking. By positioning technology as an extension of human capability, he argued that a peaceful digital era requires resilient users who maintain active control over their tools. He concluded: “Human ethics must always be the pilot in the psychological scaffolding of our digital education systems.”

YOUTH ADVOCATES: THE POWER OF CO-CREATION
While the panelists established the structural framework for this new educational paradigm, the true test of its success lies in the lived experience of those it is designed to empower. In alignment with the UNESCO 2026 theme, the session concluded with a powerful segment featuring youth advocates who are already co-creating the future of education through their unique research and perspectives.

In direct support of the UNESCO 2026 mandate, youth provided the “seeds” of lived experience:

Zhang Jiayi (High School Student, China): Zhang presented a vision for schools as community hubs where social harmony is prioritized alongside technical skills. He argued that for technology to be safe, it must be piloted by individuals who understand the “language of peace” first, stating: “The school must be the place where we learn the language of peace before the tools of the trade.”

Chen Feiyang (University Student, China): Chen advocated for an “Integrated Learning Ecosystem” where peace education begins in early childhood. She emphasized that digital proficiency is useless without an ethical compass, noting: “Peace is a journey that technology must facilitate from our very first steps; it is a lifelong commitment to the human family.”

• Arianna Cetrulo (High School, USA): Ariana narrated the transformative power of assistive technology, specifically her work in making mathematics accessible to the visually impaired. She framed radical inclusion as a prerequisite for global peace, proving that when we remove barriers to learning, we dismantle the foundations of social exclusion. She proposed the following:“True peace begins when we fix the code to ensure no mind is excluded.”

• Giles Rutherford (High School, USA): Giles focused on the human heartbeat within technological systems—the teachers. He argued that a universal standard of peace can only be achieved if we empower the educators who guide the next generation, remarking: “To achieve digital peace, we must first support the educators who act as the human heartbeat within our ICT systems.”

• Rukshana RA (University student, India): Rukshana linked ICT directly to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, narrating how inclusive digital systems prevent the marginalization that often leads to conflict. She proposed that peace education be integrated with digital literacy to ensure faster and more inclusive progress toward a sustainable world by saying: “In the digital age, peace is not inherited; it is educated. ICTs are powerful amplifiers that must be used to build trust, responsibility, and peace.”

• Kaan Ramazanoğulları (High School, USA): Kaan cautioned against a future where machines perform every educational task, arguing that the “struggle” of learning is essential for building human intelligence. He urged his generation to be “pilots, not passengers” of technology, ensuring that critical thinking and empathy remain at the center of their digital livesand underlined that“If we are not the ones designing the curriculum for the ICT tools we use, those tools will design us. We must preserve our human advantages.”

• Leyla Atlığ (High School, UNIS): Leyla emphasized the critical role of ethical judgment in the age of Artificial Intelligence. She argued that digital tools must be secondary to a deep understanding of human impact, noting: “Our digital tools must be rooted in a deep understanding of human impact and truth, ensuring technology serves the common good.”

• Davis I. (India): Davis advocated for mandatory K-12 peace skills as a global standard to protect the digital rights of every child. He emphasized that digital literacy is a safety requirement, stating: “Safe digital light must be taught as a global standard to protect every child’s right to a peaceful and secure life.” – Presentation

THE VISION

An Inseparable Backbone: Skin and Bone The campaign#7 advocated successfully that Peace Education and ICT literacy act as the “skin and bone” towards a new global protocol—anatomically inseparable and essential for a healthy human family. Unlike current systems, where digital literacy varies wildly between private and public schools or across borders, our vision demands a compulsory backbone from Kindergarten through Grade 12. It moves beyond the ethics of Artificial Intelligence to establish a universal standard of safety and peace that does not depend on a student’s geography or economic status.

Bridging the Policy Gap: As a civil society initiative, collaboratively, we have provided a vital bridge to the Pact for the Future and the Declaration on Future Generations. We have contributed towards a specific universal education mechanism to fulfill these high-level pledges: an integrated curriculum that ensures technology evolves alongside our ethical ability to govern it.

Empowering the Next Generation: In alignment with UNESCO’s 2026 theme, in this particular session, we shifted the focus toward active participation of youth. We believe the youth are the primary stakeholders of the future; therefore, they must be the co-architects of the standards they will inherit. This program synthesized the energy of our youngest visionaries with the evidence-based research of our academic coalition.

CONCLUSION: THE UN100 SOCIAL CONTRACT

This 7th session of the #CompulsoryPeaceICTsEdu campaign served as a pivotal “seeding” event for global Human Advancement, which delivered on the Education Day January 24, 2026. It was chaired by Ambassador Rodrigo Carazo, and directed and co-chaired by Bircan Ünver. The session was specifically designed to mirror the UNESCO 2026 theme, proving that youth are essential partners in designing the future of learning. The campaign has set a firm policy deadline: to deliver a formal proposal to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) by 2029, ensuring that the framework for Peace and ICT Education becomes a global standard for the UN’s 100th Anniversary in 2045.

The session, chaired by Ambassador Carazo and co-chaired Bircan Ünver, concluded that this campaign is the “missing link” for the Pact for the Future. Ambassador Carazo framed the campaign as the cornerstone of a “necessary evolution of the social contract” for the UN100 era. The Coalition stands ready to use the 2026–2029 window to advocate for this mandate as the engine of Human Advancement.

THE CONTINUITY: CAMPAIGN #8 & 2027 J.U.C. AWARDS
To ensure these seeds grow, the Coalition moves immediately toward two major milestones:

The 2027 J.U.C. Media, Research & Writing Awards: Dedicated to “Bilingualism” and the International Day of Mother Language, these awards will foster a self-sustaining cycle of youth leadership through research and media production. The Application will be available in February 2026.

#CompulsoryPeaceICTsEdu Campaign #8 (April 25, 2026) is dedicated to: ICTs For GIRLS will focus on bridging the gender digital divide and empowering girls as architects of the 2045 vision.

To cultivate a future defined by peace, security, and equality, we advocate for a global imperative: a compulsory Peace & ICTs curriculum—from Kindergarten through Grade 12—that treats human ethics and digital literacy as a single, inseparable standard.
Developed & Catalyzed by LMGlobal.Org, in support of the 2024 Summit of the Future and its outcome Pact For the Future to advocate it along with our global partners. This holistic approach addresses the persistent “mega-gaps” in educational equity.
