WATER ACTION DECADE

INTRODUCTION:

[#JUCAwards2025] The water cycle on Earth is a complex system that includes many different processes. Liquid water evaporates into water vapor, condenses, to form clouds, and precipitates back to earth in the form of rain and snow. Of the many processes involved in the water cycle, the most important are evaporation, transportation, condensation, and precipitation and run off. Although the total of water within the cycle remains essentially constant, it’s distribution among the various process is continually changing according to JACQUES YVES COUSTEAU YVES:

Water cycle and Life cycle are one- Meaning that the water cycle and life cycle are interconnected making them one in a conceptual sense as the survival and continuity of life without water will be missing. If there are no water in our planet the humans would die. The United Nations has committed to focus on water for decade, i.e.: 10 years in advance sustainable development. In other to accelerate effort towards meeting role related challenges, the United Nations general assembly declared 2018-2028 as the international decade for action water for sustainable development.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY:

The focus of this study is on the most essential elements of life water, explaining the solutions related to water through various creative and research-based mediums.

SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY

The significant of the study is to enable student explore solutions related to water through various creative and research mediums.

MEANING OF WATER CYCLE:

According to OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY the water cycle also known as hydrologic cycle is the continuous process by which water is circulated between the Earth’s oceans, atmosphere, and land. It is a vital process that sustains life in earth. Water cycle also involves the continuation circulation of water in the earth atmosphere system.

THE MOST ESSENTIAL ASPECT OF WATER CYCLE:

Of the many processes invoked in the water cycle, the most important are evaporation, transportation, condensation, runoff and precipitation.

EVAPORATION:
One the major process in the cycle is the transfer of water from the surface of the Earth to the atmosphere. By evaporation, water in the liquid state is transferred to the gaseous state or vapor state. The transfer occurs when some molecules in a water mass have attained sufficient kinetic energy to eject themselves from the water surface the main factors affecting evaporation are temperature, humidity, wind speed and solar radiation.

TRANSPORTATION:
It is the evaporation of water through minute pores or stomata in the leaves of plants. Water is the primary form of atmosphere moisture. Water vapor is extremely important in forming the moisture supply for dew, frost, fog, cloud and precipitation

CONDENSATION: The transportation process from the vapor state to the liquid state is called condensation

RUN OFF:
Some percolates into the soil by infiltration, and the remainder flows directly as surface runoff into the sea. Some of the infiltrated precipitation may later percolate into stream as groundwater runoff.

PRECIPITATION:
By condensation, water vapor in the atmosphere is released to form precipitation. Precipitation that falls to the Earth is distributed in 4 main ways. Some is returned to the atmosphere by evaporation, some maybe intercepted by vegetation and then evaporated from the surface of the leaves.

Jacques Yves Cousteau maintained that in our daily lives, we often overlook the fact that every drop of water plays an essential role in the intricate web of life on our planet. The water cycle shows the continuous movement of water within the Earth and atmosphere.

IMPORTANCE OF WATER CYCLE:

The water cycle is important because it maintains the Earth water supply, support the functioning of ecosystem preserves climate balance and provides human societies with the freshwater resources they need to live. Water cycle is also important because it makes sure water reaches plants, animals and humans.

CONCLUSION
The water is an extremely important process because it enables the availability of water for all living organisms and regulate whether patterns on our planet. If water didn’t naturally recycle itself, we would run out of clean water which is essential to life.
We can try to reduce contamination by keeping the water, the ground and the air free of pollutants as much as possible. We can use just the amount of water that we can need, industries can recycle their processed water or pre-treat their wastewater so that it’s easier to purify for drinking water and other purposes.
