OPEN POSITION: 2024-2025 YOUTH NGO Representative
To the United Nations Department of Global Communications

For the Light Millennium, Inc. – a Charitable Global Human Advancement Organization
Associated with the United Nations Department of Global Communication (formerly, UNDPI since December 2005).
Location: New York City, New York.

Position Types-1. An option to incorporate with Optional Practical Training (OPT)/STEM field and the UN NGO Youth Rep. position (Age category: 18-32);

2. Internship towards credit for a semester – in this case, Internship of the school criteria will apply);

3. Volunteer (All ages categories are welcome).  

• Term for OPT / STEM: July 2024 – June  2025 | 20 hrs. per week  (online  and in person)
• Internship: Fall-Winter 2024 – 8 hrs per  week (4 hrs in person + 4 hrs online)  
• Volunteers: 2024-2025 (IT, Content Contribution, Research) | 4 hrs per week – online or in-person   

Required Hours per Week: 4 hours per week on-site and 2-4 hours per week online (writing reports/social media/website, transcription, posting photos, etc.)

Requested Documents: A most recent resume, a government-issued ID to verify birth year, and a “Letter of Intention” that will include availability and commitment.

As a “Charitable, Global Human Advancement Organization, with good standing as an associated NGO with the United Nations Department of Global Communications since 2005 (formerly UN.DGC), the Organization provides learning opportunities to gain experience in Global Issues, International Relations, Journalism, Photography, Human Rights, the 17th Goals of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, Program Development, Event organizing, Outreach, Research, networking, more.

Publishes online issues, organizes public events, produces and presents television programs, and develops/presents various concepts in multi-platforms.
The Organization focuses on public awareness and promotes the following matters within its capacity: Human Advancement, Democracy-Equality-Justice, Fostering World Peace, Freedom of Expression, Encouraging Intellectual Productivity, Girls-Women Rights, Cultural Diversity, Advancing Culture of Peace, Global Connectivity, Sustainable Development Goals, in particular, on Water, ICTs, Non-Violence, and encouraging active participation and intellectual productivity. 

The LMGlobal.Org is a non-member-based, non-religious, non-political, not-for-profit (501-c-3), non-governmental (NGO), and independent secular organization. Officially formed in 2001, located in Queens, New York, online presence since August 1999…

The Organization was formed based on the first article of the United States Bill of Rights, Freedom of Speech, in conjunction with the United Nations’ Universal Declaration Article #19, on Freedom of Expression. It invites citizens of the world to submit, in an appropriate artistic medium, ideas, and experiences that will help foster better understanding between people of different cultures and beliefs. The organization frequently presents ideas from the United Nations on its key issues, along with ideas from all walks of life.

Qualifications and requirements:
• Age: 18 to 32 years old (this does not apply to Volunteers). 

• Ability to attend the UN.DGC-CSO Briefings and UN Sustainable Development Related programs both online and in person.;
• Production of a written piece/report/review/interview etc. to be posted/shared on the Organization’s website and relevant social media outlets

• Excellent communication, persuasive writing, and editorial  skills
, and grant writing experience is a plus
• Active participation in the UN.DPI Youth Steering Committee to ensure the Organization’s engagement in the Youth-related activities on the UN Premises. 
• Development of joint proposals with the Organization’s President on Youth, UN, and Globally related issues.

• Willingness to follow both the UN-DGC’s mandate and policy along with The Light Millennium Global on the premises of the United Nations along with any UN Division and/or Mission.
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting

Photography/Graphic/PowerPoint, Social Media skills to support the Organization’s existing social media pages)
