Though the digital revolution has changed the world radically it has also brought with it some devastating effects. The earlier scientific discoveries like telephone, cars, electricity, lights, atom bombs etc. also reduced the world to a tiny village but their impacts were limited. 

In the era of smartphones, social media, and constant connectivity, the concept of a digital detox has emerged as a remedy for the overwhelming barrage of digital information that inundates our daily lives. A digital detox involves consciously disconnecting from electronic devices and online platforms for a designated period to rejuvenate the mind, nurture relationships, and regain a sense of presence in the physical world. As our reliance on technology continues to grow, the need for occasional digital detoxes becomes increasingly apparent.

The Digital Dilemma

In today’s society, digital devices have become ubiquitous tools that facilitate communication, productivity, and entertainment. While these technological advancements have undoubtedly improved our lives in many ways, they have also introduced new challenges and complexities. Practical Tips for a Successful Digital Detox

Embarking on a digital detox doesn’t necessarily mean completely disconnecting from technology forever. Instead, it involves establishing a healthy relationship with digital devices and setting boundaries to ensure their usage remains mindful and intentional. Here are some practical tips for a successful digital detox:

Set Clear Boundaries: Define specific times and situations when digital devices will be off-limits, such as during meals, before bedtime, or during social gatherings.

Create Tech-Free Zones: Designate certain areas in your home, such as the bedroom or dining room, as tech-free zones where electronic devices are not allowed.

Disable Notifications: Minimize distractions by disabling non-essential notifications on your smartphone and other digital devices.

Engage in Analog Activities: Rediscover the joy of analog pursuits such as reading books, writing in a journal, practicing a musical instrument, or engaging in outdoor activities.

Prioritize Human Connection: Make an effort to prioritize face-to-face interactions with friends and family members, rather than relying solely on digital communication.

[LMGlobal.Org] The virtual panel titled “How Can We Prevent Harmful Consequences from ICTs, and Move Towards a Sustainable Future?” was organized and presented by The Light Millennium Global through diverse multi-disciplined speakers from academia, NGOs/CSOs, experts, activists, private sector, and youth representatives on May 7, 2024. 
The panel has brought up to the surface both existing and potential harms of ICTs, along with recommendations for solutions. 
The concept was initially developed and proposed in connection with the 2024 UN Civil Society Conference‘s Theme #3, “Science, Technology and Innovation and Digital Cooperation“ in particular, with its “Technology and Innovation and Digital Cooperation” aspects, along with the theme #4, “Youth and Future Generations” since the youth populations are both the core users, and leaders of tomorrow, and being the leaders of today; shaping most ICT companies and related innovative technologies. In this context, the panel presented five student/youth under the “Youth Section.”
