Topic – Which of the UN-Sustainable Development Goals is your favorite one? And how do you envision implementing it in your daily-life and/or surroundings?
UN –Sustainable development goal – Gender inequality

“See the human.”

Gender inequality is a sensitive topic to be talked about. As a an South Asian person, I have experienced and am experiencing gender inequality in my day to day life.
The society treats women respectfully. At least they say so .We can see it by the phrase such as ‘ladies first’ or specially in our  South Asian region it is said not to hit or not to have a fight with a woman because it is disrespectful. Also women are being represented as gods, fairies, angles and even nature. It is very common to use the prefixes related to women when describing important places, structures or monuments.
I always wondered if people connect god and women this much, women and nature this much, why do women gets assaulted the most. Why do women get raped the most.
I hope my creation will be even a little bit helpful for the society to reduce the gender inequality and to make the society fare and happy.

Hi everyone, my name is Rukhshana and I am from IGEN YGIN Arme. I am currently in 11th grade at Velammal Vidyalaya.
My topic today is to discuss my favourite UN Sustainable Development Goal and how I envision implementing it in my daily life and surroundings.
The Sustainable Development Goals are a collection of 17 interlinked objectives aimed at serving as a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet now and in the future. These goals were initially planned to be achieved by 2030.
Out of all the 17 goals, my favourite goal is the 7th goal, “Affordable and Clean Energy”. This goal stood out to me because of the increase in Carbon dioxide emissions. It is estimated that in the next 10 to 15 years, we will face climatic changes due to an increase in the Earth’s temperature by 2 degrees Celsius, which is largely due to an increase in the rate of CO2 emissions.

Energy resources play a crucial role in electricity generation, power supply, natural gas production, kerosene, and liquefied petroleum gas, but they also lead to harmful gas emissions into the atmosphere due to the combustion of fossil fuels and coal in industries. Goal 7 focuses on ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.
To contribute to this goal, I have come up with a plan to reduce 1 unit per day, which is 1.3 kg of carbon dioxide emissions per day, through an energy conservation initiative by the The Institution of Green Engineers. After several studies and attempts to save 1000 W/hr per day, the Green 9 Mantras were concluded:
• Switch off equipment after use
• Regularly clean fan and AC filter
• Optimal temperature setting of AC/Refrigerator
• Use LED study lamp
• Regularly defrost the refrigerator
