Below is a summary of Er Kannan Nova’s delivered presentation during the Session-I:

I am Kannan Nova, a Data Scientist at Microsoft in the United States and the head of the computer research group division at the institution of green engineers (IGEN).
IGEN is excited to participate in the #W175 water conference side event. IGEN is pursuing the sustainable development goals of the United Nations, which include good health, quality education, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, industry; innovation and infrastructure, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, and partnerships for the goals.

Today I will speak about the role of IGEN in promoting the importance of water awareness to human conscience in support of UN development goal 6, which is clean water and sanitation for all, as well as the role of modern technologies and tools such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the internet of things (IoT) in promoting the importance of water awareness to human conscience.

The Role of IGEN for Goal 6 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:

We finished the two tasks listed below:

1. We IGEN encouraged the public to conserve one unit of energy each day, which is equivalent to conserving 720 liters of water. This was accomplished by 225 project students executing the IGEN Energy99challenge project in 24255 houses, saving 5760000 liters or 1521631 gallons of water. The majority of Asian and African countries utilize water as an energy source.
2. We also raised SDG 6 awareness among 5 million college and high school students.

To support the United Nations conference on water in 2023:

• IGEN launched the IGENWATERBANK project, the goal of which is to raise awareness of SDG 6. Volunteers are required to conserve water and store it at IGENWATERBANK.

The Role of Artificial intelligence (AI) for United Nations SDG goal 6 clean water and sanitation

AI plays an important role in water management, including water conservation, water quality monitoring, disaster response (flood / drought) and real time monitoring for rivers, lakes, and reservoirs in real time (AI, IOT, satellite photos) and identifying low water levels, high pollutants. AI can be employed to tackle water scarcity and enhance access to clean water and sanitation.

About: Er Kanan Nova is currently a Core Volunteer at The Institution of Green Engineers (IGEN) and leads the research activities of the IGEN NXGEN Computing Research Group. He works as a data scientist for Microsoft in the United States. He is an IGEN fellow and an IEEE senior member.
He has over 25 years of experience in information technology, with a focus on green environment and artificial intelligence for a sustainable society. His primary concerns are the development of a green society through the use of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science. His data analytics research aided water conservation and led to the achievement of SDG6.
He began his career at Patni Computers in 1998 and has since worked at Pennsylvania PA, Ryder Inc Miami, Toll Logistics, and Microsoft in Seattle, WA, USA
