Accelerating the implementation of the objectives of the Decade, including through the UN Secretary-General’s Action Plan

WHAT IS YOUR COMMITMENT TO THE WATER ACTION DECADE?

Seven core #WaterAction ideas toward contributing in #WaterAwareness and #WaterConscience

1. Proposed #WaterAction ideas #WaterForestryClimateChange #StopConstantForestFires
#ForestryForGroundwater #StopClimateEngineering #StopDeforestation

#ReforestrationForWater #ReforestrationForClimateAction #ReforestrationToStopErosion #RestrictMining toward over deforestation for commercial and mining purposes. 

“From 2002 to 2021, there was a total of 68.4Mha humid primary forest lost globally, making up 16% of its total tree cover loss in the same period, the total area of humid primary forest decreased globally by 6.7% in this period.” (GlobalForestWatch.Org)

Related global policies and regulations are to be developed toward implementing preventable measures for forest fires, along with launching a global campaign toward reforestation to develop and sustain water resources and livelihood.

• Questions: How can we convince governments and the defense sector to limit and be held accountable for all defense industry-related damages to our groundwater, oceans, and basic fundamental rights since wars have badly affected all people in any country that is faced with it?

• Is there any available data in correlation with the following(s)?

a) Lost of Groundwater due to forest fires and deforestation within the global context;

b) the magnitude of the threat caused by forest fires and deforestation in connection with “visible and invisible” water resources and its overarching mega-trigger effects toward worsening Climate Change;

c) Climate-Engineering (or geo-engineering*); does “Dimming the Sun” a solution while burning out inhabitants of our unique Mother Earth, and putting in/forcing local-regional people to extreme-poverty levels while the UN has been promoting #ZeroHunger by 2030?
And: 
In connection with Water & Climate Change cross-cutting issues, an URGENT need for developing and implementing preventable measures toward stopping forest fires, along with commercial purpose deforestation including mining on the global level. To that extent forestry or SDG-15 at large, should be an indispensable part of the Water and Climate Change cross-cutting issues, in which, forestry should be the bedrock of this triangle.

Because, in any given country, losing forestry is a direct enormous negative effect on losing water resources, a strong trigger for poverty, climate change, float, pollution, and ignoring the ecosystem and its habitats at large. (Effect of deforestation on access to clean drinking water: https://www.pnas.org/doi/epdf/10.1073/pnas.1814970116)

2. Proposed #WaterAction Idea #MilitaryAccountabilityOnWater #GameChanger

Decreasing the production of more powerful weapons and STOP all forms of wars, which should consider within the overarching concept as ALL WARS ARE GENOCIDE in connection with #Water, #RightToLive, #ProtectionOfEnvironment, and #Ecosysytem.

Perhaps, the #UN2023WaterConference can bring this critical connection to the surface toward leading related REFORMs to be taking place at and led by the UNGA.

Specifically, in connection with the following key elements of the UN 2023 Water Conference re #government, #data, #budget, and #finance: 

IF/when each country can allocate from 5 to 15 percent of each of their defense budget–depending on the developed or the developing countries— as a mandatory commitment toward the #SDG6, along with all the cross-cutting #SDGs; this will be the mega #GameChanger. Consequently, we will be able to meet the most pressing goals and targets of the SDG-6 and the 17th Goals by 2030!

 • Question:  What will we do with ALL existing homes, residential and business buildings whether built-in with old houses and/or modern technologies, and all forms of industry, factories, and power plants in connection with NOT having GRAY water pipelines in place toward retreat-and-reuse of the water for cleaning and/or agriculture purposes?

As we speak, millions of buildings are built without any regulations for this specific purpose and need.

3. Proposed #WaterAction Idea #GrayWaterIsAMust #GreenWater 

Research, Develop and Implement a global policy for the construction industry ASAP that each new building, whether a house, apartment or business building, or manufacturer, MUST have a GRAY water hose to be collected, retreat, and reused.

For existing buildings, houses may be much more difficult unless science and technology, along with urgently needed regulations and policies in place, accordingly, a combination of these can produce a solution!

In this line, the UN 2023 Water Conference’s outcome will require to be transformed toward a legally binding global Water & Cross-cutting SDGs Treaty.

4. Proposed #WaterAction Idea | #WasteProcessorForOurPlanet #StopPlasticPollution

Waste Processor has been out for over three decades, in particular, for vegetable waste (I had seen and used it for the first time in Los Angeles in 1989). Yet, it has not been mandatory for old and/or new buildings on a global level and it has become an indispensable part of our daily lives in terms of a healthy environment and protecting our ecosystem. 

On the same side of the coin, plastic pollution is all over our streets, parks, schools, and mountains, along with in creeks, rivers, seas, and oceans.

In short, plastic waste has invaded all forms of our water resources all around the world both on land surfaces by mounting up and sinking below the water and including covering up the surface of water resources that is killing lives and the environment both “life on land” (SDG-15) and “life below water” (SDG-14).

Yet, we do not have a global policy on how to handle waste from a small village to the most developed metropolitan cities… In other terms, we do not have a universal solution from the least developed countries to the developed countries nor any mandatory regulations including old houses, buildings, schools, government buildings, sports facilities and fields, factories, and various forms of the industry including chemical and military. 

More importantly, manufacturers/producers of all forms of plastic products do not hold accountable. They don’t care what happens once they sell it but they care only to profit from it. 

How come who make the most out of it, those are not responsible for any part of its huge short and long-term negative effects on our daily lives, environment, and toward protecting our ecosystem for our children?

This is a proposal to encourage ideas toward a solution for a semi-industrial form Waste Processor for each house, building, and all forms of facilities and industry both for the existing buildings and newly designed and/or already in construction ones. 

Idea and/or practice on gray water hose has been out for some time, along with green water and other two forms of waste-related hoses as well for agriculture, animal feed, and fertilizer usage purposes. 

Yet, we do not see this approach has been taken on a policy level or discussed on a global level through the U.N. System.

As a vision, this may be in two folds: 

1) Each house or apartment, public and private buildings, factory, and industry should have built-in gray, green, and yellow color-coded water hoses, which will require redesigning existing infrastructure along with a huge scale renovation in each village, town, city, and country on a global scale.

2) Instead of keeping up with a huge metal or plastic mixed garbage bin for each house or building, it must be a mandatory policy with three or a four-division waste processor that can process plastic, can-bottle, paper cartoon and other forms of waste that instantly should be delivered to a

relevant public and/or private sector.

• Question: Without tackling “waste management” with a multi-facet approach instantly on a global level, how can we attain the SDG-6 #RightToWater (drinkable/clean water) and #RightToHygene by 2030 if all things will continue as business as usual?

And, how can #WasteToEnergy implement on a global scale? #WtE

5. Proposed #WaterAction Idea | #WaterForALL | #WaterForLife #DevelopmentNotAgainstPeopleWill

Concern: The private sector may cause a threat to equal access and availability to Water  Resources. Government(s) should secure its availability and access to it by all. Regardless, the private sector may offer technological and natural-based solutions to governments.

Because the Private Sector doesn’t care if families or individuals can’t pay a monthly water bill, then they will turn it off or take them to the the court, but they cannot pay the bill or an attorney.

Handing the water issue, which has been mostly handled by the private sector in many countries is against the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article#1 Right To Live, along with, fundamental #HumanRights and #RightToWater

During the last session of the 10/24th, I heard often about business and finance-related issues in connection with water resources and data. Yet, I could not hear much on the accessibility to water on an equal level of availability for all. Further, we’ve seen frequently the following terms “development” and “public good” also have been abused, in most cases, by the private sector against local peoples’ will and/or through Public-Private Partnerships. This huge concern does not come to the surface on the UN Ground much.

In other words, it was not clear how once the targeted finance is available, how it will be allocated toward the most vulnerable people and communities in the world!

6. #WaterForSoul #WaterForInspiration #WaterInArts #WaterInPoetry #WaterForPeace

Through proposed #WaterAction ideas under item 6, which aims to encourage artists, photographers, digital artists, musicians, writers, poets, dancers, and performers to commit and contribute to the #WaterActionDecade. 

We aim to present this section through an exhibit or virtual event in a more holistic approach through art, music, performance, short-video clip, poetry, short essay, inspirational talk on water, etc. 

While we aim to bring the core issues to the surface in connection with the #UN2023WaterConference, we also aim to celebrate water with its all dimensions as one of the four fundamental elements in life (along with air, earth/soil, and light/fire) for all things are existing in the world including plants, all living things-animals, and the human population at large. 

In this context, we aim to engage with artists and art and culture organizations to look at closely different aspects of the following subtitles: #WaterForSoul #WaterForInspiration #WaterInArts #WaterInPoetry #WaterForPeace 

7. #WaterAction is:  #WaterAwareness #WaterCounscience

On behalf of LMGlobal.Org, the Organization’s commitment within its capacity toward contributing to the Interactive Theme 5:  Water Action Decade: accelerate the implementation of objectives, and connection with the #WaterAction idea

 • To disseminate SDG-6 and 2023 Water Conference-related information; 

 • Undertake writing and/or art projects;

 • To collaborate and present water-related and/or

cross-cutting issues with other interested stakeholders;

 • To post related reports, summaries, and interviews;

 • To produce mini television series for local channels that are also to be posted and shared online.
